Menolik Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I am trying to create a 3d spiral by sweeping a circle along a helix path. It worked once, but I can't get it to work again. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I make the helix then I make the circle. I choose sweep, select the circle, then the path. I get the message "unable to sweep selected object.". Quote
shift1313 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 before you select the path look at your command prompt. You should have a few options, path being the default i believe. type A for align, should prompt you for yes/no if i remember. try changing that and see what happens. Quote
Menolik Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 that worked, but it is solid down through the middle and I need it to be hollow. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Use the SHELL command. Select your 3d solid, then click on the faces you want removed (basically any open ends). Finally enter your sidewall thickness. Quote
Menolik Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Shell opened up a terminal and the command-line in autocad read OS Command. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 From the command line it would be SOLIDEDIT->Body->Shell. Or you can select Shell from the Solids Editing toolbar. Quote
Menolik Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Oh, I got it to work correctly though. The circle has to be a smaller diameter than the helix. Thank you for the help. Quote
