Randolph Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Hi all, I have a new computer with 2 ultra-HD monitors. The fun with ACAD 2015 (and other Software) is reduced by text that is hard to read, because it is so small. Does anybody have an idea? Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 This is not an AutoCAD specific problem. Therefore I think you need to educate yourself regarding your new Ultra-HD monitor. https://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2013/07/15/windows-8-1-dpi-scaling-enhancements/ Quote
Randolph Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 You're right. As I mentioned, the same problem comes with Maya, Max, Photoshop, Premiere e.s.o. And I did educate myself. The result is: You can turn the font size higher in Windows, but it does not affect the font size within AUtodesk or Adobe programs, or only partially. In AutoCAD f.e., the font size does change, but not the size of the text fields in the so-called ribbons (by the way, turning them off for toolboxes gets harder with every version). Thus, the text in the ribbons gets cropped, which looks just ugly. In Premiere, font size is not affected at all. Though, I use only CS3. Quote
ReMark Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 A workaround can be found here. http://www.danantonielli.com/adobe-app-scaling-on-high-dpi-displays-fix/ It was a topic of discussion at the AutoCAD Discussion Forums. See this...http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2010-2011-2012/autocad-layermanager-with-uhd-display/m-p/5554659#U5554659 Also mentioned in this discussion...http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2013-2014-2015-2016/dpi-scaling-autocad/td-p/5162511 Quote
Randolph Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 OK, thank you. I still have the ribbons in this case, so the solution is to UN-check (!?) "Resize ribbon Icons". Anyhow, the text in the "Options" window (and other Windows like "Appload" etc.) is still not rescaled and hardly to be read. I did not find an Option for that. Did you? Quote
ReMark Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 The problem with text size is discussed in the first link I gave you. If that does not work for you then you have to utilize the workaround (re: manifest file) as discussed in the first link contained in post #4. I don't need to search for any options because I am not running a Ultra HD monitor. That's the price I pay for not being an early adopter of technology. My cross to bear. I see the problem thusly: I need to be functional to earn a living and not necessarily up-to-date hardware/software speaking. Others see it just the opposite. Quote
Randolph Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 Can it be you edited a post? I answered to the tip to check the options, which I can't find now, but did not see the mentioned link. Have to take a look at that. - You say it's your cross to bear - no, mine, or in some way, still yours You're perfectly right in not beeing techno-super-top all the time. And to be honest, I was talked into that. The price to pay if you delegate ANYTHING. Easiest solution: Take my pervious monitors. Quote
ReMark Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Options > Display is for using large button for Toolbars (not toolboxes). Quote
Randolph Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 I tried Dan's workaround. Unfortunately, it won't work with the CS3 suite. Also, I did not find out how to adapt it to Autodesk products. Quote
ReMark Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Everything is explained in the third link contained in post #4. You'll have to read through it in its entirety as I am not about to write a synopsis. Quote
