jjatho Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I've done some AutoLISP programming to write plenty of routines that help me along in my day to day operations, but I've had some ideas that would benefit not only me, but many others in my same industry. What I'm looking for is a book on writing more professional apps, like those that appear in the Autodesk app store. I've done C++, Visual Basic, and a few other languages in the past, so I'm fairly comfortable with programming. I'm just looking for a good, comprehensive book to help me through. I should mention that I kind of dislike online tutorials. I find myself bookmarking far too many and getting lost in the sea of information. Tutorial books are easier for me because they feel more linear to me. Quote
rlx Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I would start with the visual lisp bible , free to download and lots of examples. Check the site of Lee Mac and these forums are really the best place to be but that's just my opinion... gr. Rlx Quote
jjatho Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 Visual Lisp Bible has been downloaded. Going to print it out and stick it in a binder to satisfy my need for an actual physical book. Quote
iconeo Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I see a free 2003 version. Is there a free 2011 version? Quote
BlackBox Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I see a free 2003 version. Is there a free 2011 version? ... It's only $3 (down from $7), just pay David his due. Disclaimer: I'm completely biased. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?80528-How-can-I-Learn-AutoCAD-.lisp http://www.theswamp.org/index.php?topic=39403.0 Quote
BlackBox Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Too late, already did! Thanks. Well done; I hope you find David's book to be as helpful as I did when first starting out. Cheers Quote
rlx Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Also try this one : http://forums.autodesk.com/autodesk/attachments/autodesk/130/294770/1/CP401-1-Lisp-Advance-Yourself%20_2-DOC.pdf Searching on augi (login) / autodesk university can help you Many years ago I once of twice bought a book about autocad / lisp and I was very disapointed because it was as if somebody just printed the help fuction and maybe added a few goodies but overall... crap and a total waste of money. Maybe things (books) have improved by now but I decided to do it myself as much as I can. The lisp bible is much better. And now I come to think about that I believe I did buy the 2011 edition but it still is on my old , soon to be discarded 12 year old pc... must make sure I rescue 'the bible' Gr. Rlx Quote
