Fiberglass Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to read this thread. I have a frustrating issue, one that I have not encountered on previous parts. I searched the forum, but am probably looking for the wrong key words...or I'm just an idiotic noobie My issue is this: I started the IPT normally. Created the sketch using a rectangle (construction lines) to define my required dimensions, I used the spline (vertex) tool to draw out 1/2 of my shape. Then I mirrored the spline around a center axis. exited the sketch and extruded the design Up to this point any sketch created is perfectly aligned on the axis. Once I use the Shell tool, every subsequent sketch is skewed by about 7 degrees What am I doing wrong? I have attached my IPT file for anyone wanting to take a look. I appreciate ya'll help! JD Mather Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Create your sketches on the Origin workplanes rather than on part faces. Quote
Fiberglass Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 JD, Much Appreciated! should have thought about that!:face palm: Thanks!! Quote
Fiberglass Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 I must be missing something. When I create the work plane, it is skewed by the same amount as the previous sketches. This is even prior to creating the shell. I can make the wp work, but what is causing this issue in the first place? Id rather fix the problem than the symptom. When the main section is a relative rectangle this does not happen. Thanks Quote
