I am using Autocad 2016 with Windows 10. Export of the drawing to PDF is not allowing access between the 2 users on the computer.

When I use EXPORTPDF from User 1, User 2 cannot open or view. The dialog box "You don't have permission to open this file" displays.

If I choose to PLOT DWG to PDF then both users can open the plot file.

The *.dwg file is accessible to both users.

Kind of strange don't you think? If there was a problem with the folder permissions then the DWG and Plotted PDF files would not be accessible to both users. The problem is only with the EXPORTPDF files.

Thanks in Advance - Dan

EXPORTPDF is a different critter than just printing to PDF as it puts the layer info and text into PDFs so it will be using different resources within CAD than the print to pdf so it makes sense that the print still works.

Does the destination folder happen to be a local folder or a network folder?

The folder is in the Public folder which is accessible to all HOMEGROUP users. Please note that this happens only with the PDF created using the EXPORTPDF command. I tried it from both User1 and User2. Open common DWG file in either User1 or User2.

When use EXPORTPDF from User1 - User2 cannot access the created PDF.

Opening the same DWG file in User2 and use EXPORTPDF - User1 cannot access the created PDF.

From the same DWG file Opened in User1 or User2 and using the PLOT command. Each user can access without error.

It seems that EXPORTPDF command is changing the PDF file permissions.

If there were a problem with the Folder Permissions then the PLOT PDF or the DWG file would have the same error opening in the other user.

Is there a EXPORTPDF toggle somewhere for permissions?

By "access" do you mean cannot open or cannot even be seen?

Is the PDF opened on User1 machine?

YES - output created using EXPORTPDF from USER2 (Judee) will not open in Acrobat for USER1 - see attached JPG.

The file Plotted to PDF by USER2 opens just fine by USER1. Both of these behaviors happen in reverse also.

Thanks for trying - Dan

Still no resolution of this issue. I am thinking it might have something to do with A360. If I print/plot the drawing to PDF using the Adobe Acrobat PDF Converter then the dwg can be shared with all users. If I export/publish using the AutoCad DWG to PDF then the file is not able to be opened by other users.

All other programs creating documents to PDF are able to be shared from the same folder to all users.

I just now looked at the screenshot you posted. Did you notice the icon? I'm not sure, but it looks like it might not be done writing the file.

Thanks for looking Rob - this is the Icon from Microsoft OneDrive showing that the file has not been synced to the cloud yet.

Might have to open the pdf viewer as an admin

This is not the problem. I cannot access the files generated by Autocad 2016 through the network. All other files in the folder can be accessed PDF or otherwise. As an example in the same folder is a PDF exported from MS Word - this file can be opened, saved, copied etc. The PDF generated from ACAD cannot be opened/copied/etc...
