DeathByDesign Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 In 2009 everything I draw always wants to be on the top view axes (x & Y). Is there a way to just draw in any axes I'm in like lets say back view (x & Z) axes? It would make it so much easier so i don't have to 3D rotate a lot of things. Quote
ReMark Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 You should make use of Viewports and learn how to switch between them to draw in the different axises. Quote
rkent Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Use the VIEW command, the various front, back, right side, etc are preset for you. Also you can use the toolbar for View command. Quote
rgarjr Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Do you not know about how to orientate the UCS? Quote

No i understand what you guys are talking about i might have asked it wrong. lets try again.....for example if i go to left, right, front,or back and lets say i want to draw a circle it draw the circle as if i was in top view meaning it almost looks like a line because I'm in the side view. Does that make sense? I know it can be done because i have done it in 2005 cad but 2009 i cant figure it out. Quote
ReMark Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Follow the advice already given by reorienting your UCS. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Make sure the UCS icon is visible so you know what plane you are in. set your UCS to your current view by typing UCS View Quote
ReMark Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 D-B-D: We'll start with the basics. Is your UCS icon on? Do you know how to change its orientation? Quote
dumfatnhappy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 D-B-D: We'll start with the basics. Is your UCS icon on? Do you know how to change its orientation? right click in your pull down area, choose acad, then enable the UCS (or UCS II?) tool bar, you can change your UCS just like your view this way (I'm going by memory as I don't have acad on this machine) Quote
