BJAutoCad Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Hi, I'm new to Inventor and I'm currenlty making a change over from Autocad. Also user of Prosteel. I'm a structural steel modeler/detailer. Along with other types of modelling. My question: Is it possible to move a plate from a snap point to the end of a beam snap point? like in Autocad/Prosteel? (Just one point to another) Or can you only operate with the Joint/Constrain commands? Which are frustrating and slow to work with when getting geometry errors. I'm finding this software not user friendly with structural steel, has anyone else used this program for structural steel modeling on buildings? The 2D detailing side of things I find great. Thank you. Quote
MarkFlayler Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Inventor for Structural Steel detailing is possible but you are right, it is not fun. Autodesk has two other programs to aid in this instead... AutoCAD Structural Detailing and a newer product, Advanced Steel Quote
MarkFlayler Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 To answer your primary question, yes you can do this but requires a lot of setup with iMates or more logical use of Joints. Quote
