mkisno4 Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Hi, I just started playing around with data links from excel, and I was wondering if it were possible to set different lines of the table to different layers/colors in CAD? For example, my outer border is usually thicker then the rest of the lines, so I'd like to make that thicker. Any advice appreciated. Thanks! Quote
TheCADnoob Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 you can change table style. depending on your work flow you can import your table as it is styled in excel i believe as well. Quote

How do you change the table style? Whenever I try it, it changes the whole table, every line, to one layer. Though I'd rather not import my table style at this point if it's possible to edit from CAD. Quote

You can change border or separate lines Now,go to Borders Tabs in Table style, notice some button above "Apply the selected properties to borders by cliking the buttons above." line ^^ Quote

Sorry, I can't seem to find out how to do or get to where you're referring me...? Quote
RobDraw Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Select a cell, row, or column in the table and look at the properties box (Ctrl+1) for a number of formatting options. Quote

mkisno4 Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 type TABLESTYLE > Modify Im not sure you can put the individual cells on different layers though Okay, so I did that and made my own table style in which the outer border is a different layer, but it doesn't seem to apply to my table. I selected my table and made sure that under properties the "Table style" has my new style selected, but nothing changes...? Quote

mkisno4 Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 my goto in cases like that is REGEN Unfortunately REGEN didn't work. I tried to double check so re-added my table and made sure to select my new style, but same thing...any ideas? thanks for all the feedback! Quote
TheCADnoob Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 I've had similar issues with other style elements and i usually throw everything at it so I'm not certain what gets it through. Some times ill select a third style that i don't want and then go back to the other style and it works. You can try selecting the style from the ribbon instead of from the properties menu and there is always the good ole reopen/restart.. Quote
mkisno4 Posted December 18, 2015 Author Posted December 18, 2015 I tried all that, but nothing. Though I did notice that when I add a new table and select "Start from empty table" it actually uses my table style and displays correctly. It's only when I select "From data link" that the option to choose a table style is greyed out and my table will not display correctly (or the way it should according to my table style). I'm guessing it's not possible...? Quote
