Extruding from a curved surface

Hello,

 

Will one of the fine Gurus here give me a step by step to extrude a half ball off a curved surface? I know it has to do with projection.

 

I have a 1" diameter cylinder that I need to have raised half balls extruded off it's surface. Please bear in mind that I am a newbie. It must be specific.

What year solidworks are you using? There are several ways to do this but some vary based on version. If you need a dome on the top of the flat go to insert>features>dome. The other ways all deal with the end conditions inside of the extrude feature. If you are talking about a newer version of solidworks you can also split a face and extrude from that, bit fundamentally the same thing.

 

Let me know where the feature needs to go and your version of solidworks and ill try and make a video.
