rock1 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I am trying to change the splash screen of autocad 2012 by editing AcBrandRes.dll in resource hacker application. But when I try to replace the bitmap with another one, I get operation failed error. I tried again with matching the resolution and dpi of the image too but failed. I am running windows 8.1 (64bit) What should I do? Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) Find something more valuable to do with your time? I understand we all want to see our name in lights but you would be doing yourself a bigger favor by just eliminating it. Shave a couple of seconds off the start up time. BlackBox Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Did you look at this thread? http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?34064-Splash-image 1+ In short - Try copying AcBrandRes.dll to your desktop (after making a backup copy), edit it from your desktop, and then copy the modified resource file back to the install folder. SLW210 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 From some brief research on this, AutoCAD 2011 (and I believe AutoCAD 2012) should edit the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2011\acadres.dll. AcBrandRes.dll does not exist in AutoCAD 2011. If I find the time today, I'll check which file(s) need edited. Quote
SLW210 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 AutoCAD 2011, you need to go to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2011\acadres.dll, open acadres.dll with Resource Hacker and expand the BITMAP folder, scroll down to 144:1033 Go to menu bar Action (or Right-Click) and select Replace Bitmap, select Open File With New Bitmap, browse to your custom .bmp then Save Resource Hacker made a file called acadres_original.dll automagically, but I made a backup as well. That will replace default splash .bmp with your custom .bmp. Took me 10 seconds. Quote
rock1 Posted February 19, 2016 Author Posted February 19, 2016 Did you look at this thread? http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?34064-Splash-image Hey, thanks a lot. I read this post on the given link earlier too. That's how I got to know about dll file editing using resource hacker software. It didn't work out as expected Then I tried Resource tuner software and it worked. Quote
