savvy Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 Hello guys, I am trying to align a block onto a line by using measure or divide commands but when i do it the blocks appear all over the place but the line.. important is that when i select the line the blocks are also get selected.. like they are indeed on the line but they are not really shown on the actual line but somewhere else on the map..selected.. i know it must not be very complicated but since i just started, i could use some help. Thanks. Quote
ReMark Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 If the blocks are all over the place one reason might be that their basepoints were not on some part of the geometry to begin with but that can only be verified if we can get an actual copy of the drawing you have created. So my suggestion is that you attach a copy of the drawing in question to your next post and someone here will take a look at it and tell you where you went astray. Since, as you say, you just started out, have you looked at the tutorials here at CADTutor or over at mycadsite.com? Have you taken a basic AutoCAD course? Do you have a good after-market AutoCAD book? Are you a student? Quote
savvy Posted March 21, 2016 Author Posted March 21, 2016 Hi there, thanks for the reply. I am trying to upload an example picture but it only gives me a URL option when i press the icon.. i don't know if i do something wrong, sorry. I haven't taken a course, in general i study on my own. I don't have a book either and i am not a student. Thank you. Quote
ReMark Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Images are basically useless when it comes to troubleshooting a problem like this. Use the Go Advanced button for starters and attach a copy of the actual drawing you are working on to your next post. Did you create these blocks? If so, did you pick somewhere on the block's geometry when asked to pick a basepoint or did you default to using 0,0,0? Quote
savvy Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Sorry for the delay, I managed to upload the pictures after all.. It's only an example to show what the problem is. Hope it'll work for you. Thank you. Quote
savvy Posted March 24, 2016 Author Posted March 24, 2016 Hi ReMark, i have uploaded 2 pictures recently, would you like to check them out? I can't find the Advanced button sorry..! Quote
ReMark Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 (edited) Sorry but the pictures don't really do anything for me. Attaching a copy of a drawing is pretty much similar to attaching an image. It's been a while since I posted this response and no reply or drawing on your part? OK...I guess you really don't want help, at least from me anyway, solving your problem. Good luck.
