I am going through all the lisps that my company currently uses, or thinks we use and trying to get rid of all the ones we think we use but really dont. I have 170 .lsp files with possibility of multiple lisps within each file. Any suggestions on how to quickly go through these? currently ive unloaded all apps and am reloding one at a time trying the command 1. to see if it even works and 2. to see what it does and if its completly out dated. then either keeping it on file or deleting it. This works but its taking forever any suggestions would be great. Ill be continuing on my current path til i hear something better

This is a great job for an intern.

I don't think you can do it any other way then you are at the moment. The routine has to be "tested" and someone has to be able to view the results of that test. Otherwise you could possibly run a script file that could do it but without the "intelligence" to "see" what is or isn't taking place the script, in the end, would be of no useful value to you. Maybe the script could be made smarter by reporting if the lisp routine actually ran or failed but other than that it couldn't tell you much more.

That's why it is called grunt work.

Good points there ReMark,

An intern would gain valuable LISP knowledge from this kind of task - I'd be happy to do it if I was just starting on LISP - it would be very interesting - but as ReMark points out - a tedious task indeed.
