cat3appr Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 hi all, I'm pretty tired of the " save before closing" message , I have to close and re open dwg's very often and i'm always aware of what im doing so I really want to get rid of this. How can I do it? i googled around and I just found crazy complicated LISPS or adjustment in the registry.... isn't it there a straightforward way? many thanks! Quote

Refer to this thread. http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?59167-Close-without-saving thank you, i checked thread but as i thought, it gives for granted that one knows where to put the code and how, and i dont. can you tell me where to put this code? i need a step by step guidance if possible Code: (defun c:cln () ;Close No save (setvar "cmdecho" 0) (command "close" "No") (setvar "cmdecho" 1) thanks! ReMark Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I don't think you completely read the thread. You want the solution given by Tharwat. Keep reading. Re: running an autolisp program. Read this tutorial by Lee Mac. http://lee-mac.com/runlisp.html Quote

Read this tutorial by Lee Mac. http://lee-mac.com/runlisp.html there's nothing, here's how the thread ends, " I recommend you to depend on the Visula lisp editor which is attached with Cad , that would help you a lot and much easier than notepad without a comparison at all . " I need a guide step by step on how to upload the code. it's not enough to know that i can be done with the visual lisp attached with cad. sorry, i'm a beginner. Quote
ReMark Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 The solution by Tharwat is given in post #2 of the thread I provided the link to. I know because I checked it...twice. Lee Mac's tutorial explains in clear and concise detail how to load and run a lisp routine using any of three methods. Quote
ReMark Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 OK...keeping it simple. Download the lisp below. In AutoCAD type the APPLOAD command, find and upload the lisp routine. To run it type DOA at the command line then press the Enter key. Now kiss your drawing goodbye changes and all as it won't be saved. Be careful what you wish for. Kill.lsp BTW...yes, it works. I know because I tested it...three times. Quote

I don't understand. If you open a drawing and the drawing is changed, it's GOING TO ask you if you want to save changes. This is standard operating procedure in any application. If you're specifically talking about "Drawing1.dwg", then REMOVE whatever startup code you have running that is making a change to "Drawing1.dwg" (And causing DBMOD /= 0) As soon as you do that, "Drawing1.dwg" will close without asking you to save, because it won't be modified. I managed to make it work just a note, i can only run for a given opened CAD though, i mean if i have 2 CADs windows open and i want to close one, first i need to load the lisp and then i can close files within it,.... i mean is there a way to have this lisp automatically loaded to any CAD windows opened? ReMark Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I get the impression you didn't fully read the tutorial. Yes, there is a way. It was all explained in Method 2 of the previously mentioned tutorial. Quote
