designerstuart Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 hi all i have a drawing with a baspoke color in - we use a color book which has our fave colors in. i want to remove one color so i never see it again, kind of like purging it. BUT what i have learned through playing, is it is not a case of delete objects/layers with that color and purge and all will be gone. is there an extra step where i need to get rid of a color definition, or something? thanks! designerstuart Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 the main thing that makes me beleive the color is not completely removed is that i can see it in the 'select color' dropdown, where your recently used colors are. does this mean it's still in the drawing somehow? Quote
ReMark Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 What is the problem with a color that is available but not being used? Ignore it. It's not as though AutoCAD is going to sneak the color into your drawing all on its own. Don't you have more important things to worry about? Quote
designerstuart Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 unfortunately we have two colors that were both given the same name - and now all the things that should be blue appear green. if i can delete the erroneous green definition, the blue will be set free of green's tyranny. that's the plan, anyway! designerstuart Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 so, for instance, the objects in a drawing are "color X", which is blue. if i paste them into a new drawing, they are still "color X" but they are now green. if you have any other ideas, i'd greatfully hear them! - i just thought deleting the stupid color was best. designerstuart Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 Isn't there a color book editor? yes, it is good, i use it. http://www.autodesk.com/acb/ but it is possible to have a color book with 2 colors having the same name, which is how this problem arose. Quote
ReMark Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 From what I have read the color book editor allows the user to edit the name of a color. Or... Recreate the color book and don't include the offending color. Save under a different name. Delete the "old" color book file and rename the new color book using the same name as the old one.
