set layer color as the layout background color

hi,

 

putting viewports in defpoint, when designing the paperspace i always set the color of the defpoint to the color of the background and make the viewport bounderies seen invisable.

 

can it be done by a lisp?

There is no good reason for putting paper space viewports on the Defpoints layer.

We just use a layer called vports but it is set to "no plot" unless we want boxes in which case will use a different layer. Again no reason to use defpoints.

To answer that question, you can get the background color and modify layer colors via lisp, so yes.

And turning "vports" layer off makes it both invisible and unselectable as well unlike changing the layer color. AutoCAD is designed to use Defpoints layer for Dimensioning. With an infinite number of layer names you can use please just leave that layer alone. Don't draw on layer 0 unless you're creating a block either.

Well, I didn't mention vlisp (I said ...VIA lisp).

But now that you mention is, it does take visual lisp functions, although I don't see what difference that makes unless your using a 20+ year old version of AutoCAD or your using an AutoCAD clone that does not support these functions.

Now that I think of it, maybe AutoCAD for Mac doesn't either.... ??
