lielec11 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 So I've referenced the following two (and others) threads but still cna't seem to get my blocks to work properly. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/dynamic-blocks/dynamic-blocks-how-to-keep-attributes-horizontal-while-... http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/dynamic-blocks/rotate-text-and-object-without-rotating-text/m-p/314002... Here is what I'm looknig for: A fire alarm strobe block that has various visibility settings depending on the candela rating. I've already got some of the visibility parameters worknig fine. I would like to be able to have the block snap perpendicular to whatever wall I'm trying to mount it on. I would like the 'F' in the middle to remain "readable" no mater which direction I rotate th rest of the block. It appears my text isn't showing up at all, any ideas? I created a rotation action for the block and then chained a point/move action to it that incldues the text. What am I doing wrong? Block is attached... HORN STROBE.dwg Quote
BIGAL Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 The snap perpendicular can be done via a lisp that rotates the block on insertion similar the same lisp could ask for the candela and set that as well you can still use the dynamic block and change stuff. Quote
Ski_Me Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Cool another fire alarm designer in our midst. Welcome now I don't feel so alone anymore. I have attached a block I made for my fire alarm designs. As you will see this is a block for a 15CD horn/strobe. When you rotate it with the grip the text will go round with the block but stay horizontal with respect to the layout or the x-axis. I created a block for every candela I use which is about 5 horn/strobe blocks and 4 strobe only blocks. I don't know where your located but my blocks are consistent with NFPA 170. There are some deviations but they are acceptable for use in any fire alarm drawing. Feel free to use this block as a design basis for your own blocks. You seem to have the mechanics down for creating dynamic blocks the only thing is if you going to move text or an object around a point that's associated with a move parameter select only the point and not the object that way the only the move parameter affects the object and the rotate parameter affects the point. I know a little confusing but once you figure it out it will be easy. Horn Strobe 15CD1.dwg Quote
