Shearing/not shearing data among templates

Hi

I want to compose temple array, for example:

house.dwt

floor.dwt

coulmns.dwt

all three templates should have the same basic blocks and styles while each dwt have also some addition specific block and styles others dont need.

The way I was thinking to tackle this is by xref, where house.dwt ,floor.dwt and coulmns.dwt are hosting xref called shearedData.dwg. and on each template save specific blocks and styles.

Is there any other way?

What would be on the "shared" data drawing that it would be brought in as an xref in each of the three templates you describe?

ok...lets put it other way. lets say you creating a new file based on a dwt. now you draw a dim line, at this point the drawing contain no block at all, but we all know that dim style use blocks, so were are they? lets say that autodesk wants to shape the arrowhead, instead of doing it for all the drawings, they do it once and than all drawings are updated.

hope it make sense now....

Are you asking if there is a way to update the template and have previously created drawings get updated?
