payden45
Is there a way for a line to snap perpendicularly automatically to the associated line without having click on the perpendicular snap icon or type "perp or per" BEFORE beginning to draw the line segment? rkent
You would have to issue some type of custom command to do this, how else would the program know what you are thinking? Maybe explain some more to make sure we understand what you are expecting.

nukecad
You can easily set this up in the 'Running Osnap' settings. Running osnaps are available all the time, you dont need to specify them each time. (You can still specify one of the others that are not running snaps at any time). Select the running snaps (snaps that you want to be available all the time) in the dialogue box and when your cursor is close to that particular snap it will show an indication that that particular type of snap is selected for you. eg. If you have set the perpendicular running snap then when you get close to where the line you are drawing is perpendicular to another line (any other line) the perpendicular snap point indicator will show and at a click it will snap to that perpendicular point. It's easier to do than describe, take a look here. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-50383F73-4F23-4F70-B4FC-52D5748D80AF-htm.html And here is a video showing running object snaps in action. steven-g
Using the TAB key is also another trick to know, it works great in busy drawings and saves having to hunt around the keyboard for the 3 letter osnap shortcuts. When trying to select a snap point and any osnap is highlighted, start clicking the TAB key it will highlight the geometry and cycle through all the snap points available for that object and if there are multiple objects close too the cursor it will also highlight and move to the next object. Try it and see how you get on.
