displaying in model tab

This is a basic issue but Im buffaloed. I have a handed down drawing that had extraneous objects outside the drawing within the viewport, which I deleted. that was fine but now the drawing displays as a small graphic within a viewport at the bottom of the screen.Ive tried View-Redraw to erase unwanted material but the viewport wont remain maximized. any ideas? appreciate any help.... :}}

I can't fully picture that myself, although I'm not saying others wont be able to.

I agree with "wannabe" get a few screen shots together. Although through my imagination i think you might need to do a purge and redraw.
