Is it possible to import an old STL file and convert it back into a 3d model within AutoCAD 2016 or 2014, either the standard version or Mechanical?

I have some old file where the original drawing files have been corrupted and are unusable, but I have the STL outputs.

I know that there are free programs to edit STL directly, but I need to recreate the original AutoCAD model.

Any help please.

You cannot import a STL file into AutoCAD however you can in Inventor.

The other option would be to use a free web application available at the CADforum to convert the file from STL to DXF which can be opened in AutoCAD. Use this link to get to the webpage...
