Bill Tillman Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 We're testing some new methods here using the constraints in AutoCAD. It seemed to be working fine but then suddenly it's not. I'm wondering if there is any limit on the number of constraints you can have on Vanilla vs Mechanical versions. Both copies are 2016. The error message we're getting states: A dependent expression cannot be evaluated. The parameter is used in an expression which results in an invalid value for a dimensional constraint. This happens when we try to change one of the values in the Parameter Manager window but only when we're running it on Vanilla. It appears to be okay when running on Mechanical. The workstations we're wanting this to operate on have 2016 Vanilla. To confirm, I just retested this again. Opened AutoCAD 2016 Mechanical on my desktop using the command line switch "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016\acad.exe" /P AutoCAD to run it as Vanilla. Opened the drawing with the constraints and tried to change one of the parameters. I got the error message above. I then closed AutoCAD vanilla and re-opened it as Mechanical. The same drawing with the same constraints was re-opened. I made a change to one of the parameters and it worked fine. Quote
iconeo Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Bill did you recently apply any hot fixes or updates. AutoCAD 2017 SP1 which included hf 1-4 broke some constraint blocks for me. I have reported to Autodesk. Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk Quote
Bill Tillman Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 We have not resolved this one yet, but I did see it run on my computer if I'm running AC 2016 Mechanical. AC 2016 Vanilla will cause the error. I tried the same drawing on an AC2014 Professional computer last night and it too failed with the same error. Quote
