designer7 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I opened the drawing provided by the architect and copied and pasted my furniture into the updated plan. I saved this drawing to our office server, then when I went to open the drawing this morning the walls are not showing up on the drawing. I cannot find a layer that is turned off and I can’t figure out what the problem is. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Are there any xref's in the drawing? Quote
designer7 Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 yes, but to tell you the truth- I don't really understand how xrefs work. Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 All an xref is, is another drawing that AutoCAD is "Looking" at and displaying on your drawing. If you type xref, does the drawing/s listed show up as "Not Found" in the dialogue box? Quote
designer7 Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 there are around 8 that show up and they are labeled as: open, not found, orphaned, unloaded Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 For each of the xref's try retelling AutoCAD where they are stored, click on one of the dwg's in the list (Not the current dwg tho) And click in the "Found at" box, and then click on the 3 black dot's on the end of it, and go to where the othe drawing is saved, and click on it, then click on "open". designer7 Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 I did all of that and still no walls Quote
BenE Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I did all of that and still no walls Are the walls on the "unloaded" dwg? If so, you need to right click on that dwg in your xref palette, and tell it to reload. When you used Skipsophrenic's directions, did it correct BOTH your Not Found and Orphaned references? Quote
