silviu Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 hello friends, is there any possibility to switch between snap 2d and 3d? i want to edit some 3d polyline and move some snapped vertices, with different values on z coordinate. but when i redo the snap i only can do a 3d snap ( vertices have the same value on the z coordinate). thank you Quote
rkent Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 I am not exactly sure what you are wanting, but if you use the pline command then it will only work on the elevation of your first osnap. Lines and 3dpoly lines will snap to different elevations. Or perhaps explore OSNAPZ variable. Sorry if that doesn't answer your question. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Look into using point filters. These will allow you to select a point by using the XY filter and then will prompt for a Z value. Quote
silviu Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 thank you friends for your answers. what i need it was this : i have, let's say, two 3d polylines that suppose to be snapped only on x,y at the end of one and the beginning of the other ( e.g. : a fence snapped on the corner of a house - the fence has a lower altitude than the house); OK, for some reason this snap wasn't made by the one who draw the file, and i suppose to eliminate this error. but when i move the vertex of the fence to snap it on the corner of the house, that vertex took the altitude of the house generating an error. i resolve it this way: on "object snap options" i select/deselect ( = 2d/3d) the function: "replace z value with current elevation". now i have to learn how to create a toggle button to speed up a little bit the acces to that function. if you have other idees that are faster please tell me. once again thank you Quote
Raggi_Thor Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Using the current elevation is one possibility. Typing .Z first and then snapping to the exisiting position is maybe faster? That is point filter as mentioned above. AutoCAD will answer "need x y" and then you can snap to the house. Quote
boyo Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 osnapz command set to 1 will solve most problems of this sort and i find it the quickest way as it will restrict snaps to active plane only. Quote
