DECHAL Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Hi, I'm drawring a simple plate which has 3 hole. 2 holes are related to each end and the other is centred. Is it possible to make the centre hole disappear when the plate is squeezed less that 100mm? And stay centred when bigger that 100mm? Thanks, DECHAL. plt001.dwg Quote
dbroada Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 not that I'm aware of. You could set a visibility parameter to give you either 2 or 3 holes though. Quote
Hedgehog Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 This is as close as I could get... if anyone can link the visibility with a measured distance I'd be interested to see how. plt001.dwg Quote
dbroada Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 That's what I was expecting, but I would have done it like this.... plt001_DB.dwg Quote
Hedgehog Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Yeah... I was lazy & just used the same point ... I learnt something anyway 'cos I don't use 'em much (which is why I had a play)... in 3D they're not quite so useful but I've built module frames with dynamic aspects. Quote
dbroada Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I didn't think you would normally miss something like that but then, spending all that time in Aus may have helped you forget things. I use dynamic blocks a lot but I only do 2D drawings. It is nice to see other peoples efforts as you do sometimes realise other ways of doing things. And want conditional actions within DBs! Quote
DECHAL Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Thanks for info. Works well. DECHAL Quote

I hear rumblings of AutoCAD 2010 (A CAD Odyssey!) having some parametric features. I can only hope this means a revamp to dynamic blocks, hopefully with conditional attributes. I'm feeling pretty certain we may finally get that missing 3rd dimension also. We do almost everything here from a 3D model so I don't use DBs a lot. However I am currently in the process of converting our details into DBs. If the 3rd dimension becomes available I'll be going through the whole Simpson catalog in a dynamic bracket/hanger frenzy!
