yawdapaah Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I recently started using "Middle of Two Points." I wanted to change the keyboard shortcut from m2p to something else, but can't find the entry in the CUI. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance. Quote
manhattan Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 not exactly the solution you're after but did you know you can select an osnap toggle for the current command by holding shift and clicking right button. from this drop down you can quickly select middle of 2 points osnap option Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Its listed as "Snap, Mid Between 2 Points" The macro is _M2P (The underscore allows AutoCAD to translate the command in foreign versions) Quote
yawdapaah Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 thanks for the replies. does that mean that if i change _m2p to _mm, I can type mm to activate the command? Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 No. If you change it, the button would input _mm and AutoCAD would say unknown command. Quote
yawdapaah Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 So is there an easier way to use middle of two points with typing "m2p"? I tried adding it via Aliasedit but doesn't seem to work. It says M2P is a new command and it seems like I can't create an alias for a Macro definition . Quote
rustysilo Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Set it in the pgp file??? Actually, I don't think that would work... The pgp just controls commands doesn't it. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I added it as a custom button to the OSNAP toolbar (I have stalwartly refused to move to the ribbon so far) using the macro I described above. I've never tried creating an alias for an onsap command, perhaps the capability is not there? Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Rusty, what did you add into the pgp file? mm, *m2p or something else? Quote
yawdapaah Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 i much prefer keyboard entry so, having to type m2p really slows me down (even further ). But thanks anyway. I added mm, *m2p to the pgp file but that did not work. Quote
Attila The Gel Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Its not even in that file? or I can't find it! did a search an found nothing? Quote
yawdapaah Posted January 15, 2009 Author Posted January 15, 2009 i guess it would be like trying to create an alias for any of the OSnaps right? I mean, m2p is like an OSnap. I'm starting to think that i'm doomed to typing m2p forever Quote
smorales02 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 or you could just do what was suggested earlier and hit shift+right click and select it that way. Thats personally how i use all my osnaps. Quote
magwea Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Yeah, the osnap shortcut is a dozy, i'd say its much quicker than typing m2p- simply shift/ctrl and right click and then type t, couldn't be faster. I'm surprised to hear that you can't setup your own osnap shortcut supposedly, I'm not sure when making your own tool shortcut menu can you -like the osnap shortcut does- have a one letter alias for the tool. Eg. shift right click and b for boundary or something similar. Anyone know? Quote
Mrskotnjak Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 You could also make keyboard shortcut from Tools\Customize\Interface... Simply go to Keyboard Shortcuts\Shortcut keys and drag command from Command list (Snap, Mid between 2 points). When its draged to Shortcut keys, you just edit it and assign SHIFT+key or CTRL+key. I use that for all my snaps (Endpoint, Midpoint, Perpendicular, None, Nearest, Mid between 2 points, Insertion...), and its fastest possible way of using a command. When you learn how to use keyboard shortcuts, AutoCAD gains whole new dimension:) Quote
rustysilo Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Rusty, what did you add into the pgp file? mm, *m2p or something else? Sorry I read it wrong the first time. Thought the desire was to have the capability to type M2P instead of _M2P. I thought you had to type _M2P for it to work... Never really used that option. Quote
