Notch in Frame generator

Hi All,

In the attached image i have created the handrail in frame generator. Item 'A' is a 1-1/4" pipe and all its sections are merged, so it is a single part. I want to notch item 'A' with item 'B' at 2 places where they intersect. At the lower intersection i want item 'A' to be notched and at the upper intersection i want item 'B' to be notched.

 

Now, since item 'A' is a single part, when i do notch between these 2 items, both the notches will be done in the same time. So either item 'A' will have both the notches or item 'B'.

 

Is there a solution for this without un-merging item 'A' ?
