dan113 Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Is there a tool\logger that will log processes in AutoCAD. We have a couple of stations that intermittently hang for up to 10 minutes before coming back to life and acting as normal. They have no lisp or .net loaded that isn't on the other machines on the network. It is isolated to AutoCAD as when the hang happens it doesn't affect anything else on the machine. rlx Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Hi Dan, Don't know about the logger but here at my work AutoCAD hangs for about a minute whenever the help function is used, me think because all of the security options we have here and the big giant camel monitoring everything. Other situation has to do with our profile which contains also network path's so when the networks slows down (many updates) or is down so are all the references for templates , xrefs etc. Maybe try to have as many path's local as possible. If you have none existing path's, your profile still tries to find them. But it does not account for ten minutes or you must have very slow computers, very slow network , many unreferenced path's. One last thing , it could also be a setting for the network card. Don't know the exact settings etc. because I'm not an IT man, but once had a situation it was set for the wrong protocol or something and after it was changed everything worked much faster. But if that were true for you it should be a constant factor. gr. Rlx Quote
guran Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 It sounds like this problem: https://graitec.co.uk/blog/entry/how-to-stop-autocad-freezing-when-you-press-f8 Quote

dan113 Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Thanks guys Rlx, we have monitored the network and when the freeze happens there is no change in network activity. But I'll let the network guy know about the protocol thing. Guran, we will try the temp override var, that is a new one on me. I'll report back soon Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk Quote
dan113 Posted October 4, 2017 Author Posted October 4, 2017 Just spoke to our network guy, the network is really fast and there are no problems there. The computers it is happening on have not had any network changes within the last 8 month. The freezing has been happening for about 6 week but we can't pin down what it is. OMEGA-ThundeR Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Reinstalling the system (O/S and autocad) or disconnecting it from the network isn't an option? Quote
ReMark Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Have service packs been installed? Have you tried resetting all settings to their default? Have you tried a REPAIR of any of the systems? Note: A Repair is NOT the same as a full Uninstall / Reinstall. Have you disabled the CommCenter? Have you verified all paths to support files? What are the system specs? Quote
rlx Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Maybe something here : https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Windows-10-support-for-Autodesk-products.html Of course they advise to upgrade (buy) the latest versions of both widows and AutoCAD. Believe I've read somewhere that the windows anniversary update in some cases have unwanted side effects. Reinstall can help , maybe even try to swap graphics cards. It can be quite complex , different service packs , drivers... Are all pc's the same , both hardware and software? Sometimes you're just one service pack away from disaster :-( gr. Rlx Quote
