fooly cooly41 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I have this reoccurring problem that i havent nailed down the cause for, but when i try to fillet a set of lines- sometimes i just drew both of them, or sometimes its a copied line onto a new one, etc... it wont fillet and i get this objects are not coplanar message. ???? all of the lines are on the same plane (Zaxis) but i cnat find anything to cure me of my dilemma. any takers? Thanks foolycooly Quote
brawleyman Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I have run into this same problem, especially when dealing with other peoples drawings who change the UCS or survey companys that use z coordinates. I don't know what it is that they do, but it is a hassle to deal with. Often times, I will use a "Flatten Objects" macro to set everything to 0 and change the UCS to the original cooridinates. Even though the line may say that it is at 0, sometimes it still just won't work. I personally hate dealing with the UCS because it always causes problems, and not enough people know how to use it (including me). Now, having said all that, I don't know if you are creating new drawings and having that problem, or if you are using other peoples drawings. Quote
Zox Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 ARGH! I was drawing ground plan based on ground plan drawn by people in geodesic company. Now when I'm almost finished I decided to check why does it always reminds me that lines are not coplanar and I went for '3Dorbit' and to my shock this is how it looks in 3D But thanks to bravleyman I used "Flatten Objects" and now it's fine Quote
Cad64 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 That's why, when you receive a drawing from an outside source, you should always make a copy of it and Flatten it before trying to draw on top of it. You will save yourself a lot of headaches by doing this. My typical routine for cleaning drawings from outside the office: Save to my Originals Folder Copy to my Xref Folder Delete Layout Tabs Zoom Extents Model Space to ensure there are no stray entities out in space Delete Unnecessary Entities from Model Space Purge Audit Select All entities and change layer color to ByLayer and LInetype to ByLayer Flatten Run lisp routine 'Flat.lsp' Audit again Performing this procedure gives me a clean, problem free base to start with. fooly cooly41 Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 ok, ive use the lsp offered here and loaded and run it. and it worked great, but now the drawing is sluggish and slow to snap to objects. and if i zoom extends, i get just a pattern of pixels and if i dont undo it, it will save the drawing like that and its gone. other files that have not been subjected to the flat .lsp run fine. am i missing something or perhaps the flat .lsp is for an newer v. of cad?
