Thomas_glasgow Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I am a long time user of CAD however have never explored the 3D aspect of it. I have recently acquired 2009 and would like to use the 3D function to produce higher quality drawings. My main aim will be to produce flat/house drawings in 3D moving onto more detailed plantrooms and electrical switchrooms etc. Are their any on-line tutorials on how to teach myself to use 3D Is it pretty straight forward? I have ordered a book, mastering autocad 2009, but would like to start playing around with asap. Thanks in advance. Quote

Thomas_glasgow Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 http://www.cadtutor.net/tutorials/autocad/basic-3d.php Is this the same for 2009? Quote
Hedgehog Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 The basics yep... some of the menus & dialogues have changed but the principle is the same... there are some new features but you'll come to them when you've had a play. Quote

Hedgehog Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 It doesn't cover solids but when you've seen what's goin on here you'll find them a doddle. Quote
ReMark Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I would also recommend Alan J. Kalameja's book AutoCAD 2007 3-D Modeling A Visual Approach. It comes with a CD that includes drawing examples keyed to the chapters of the book. Don't let the year (2007) it's still a good book even if you're a 2009 user. However, if dates are a concern then these next two books would be more to your liking: AutoCAD 2009 and AutoCAD LT 2009 No Experience Required by Jon McFarland or.... 3D AutoCAD 2009 One Step at a Time by Timothy Sean Sykes. Thomas_glasgow Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 thanks for the advice. I have ordered this book: Mastering AutoCAD 2009 and AutoCAD LT 2009 (Paperback) by george omura. Any good? Quote
