djole Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Past few days i was working on some enterier. And i have a problem. Here is one enterior screenshot: img205.imageshack.us/img205/3493/backgroundproblem2tq1.jpg The thing is that i want to see the background trough the blue glass that is at the end of corridor. I have set it`s Material Opacity to "0", so it is transparent. I have set my background image in the current View (as you can see here: img407.imageshack.us/img407/4553/72079052cx3.jpg ), but nothing happened, i can`t see the background. The Sun is turned off, because i am working an enterior project and i am using Spotlighs. But even when i tried to turn on the sun, again nothing positive happened (at rendering i get a white image for some reason, maybe because of the interfearing of light among Sun and Spotlights). What am i doing wrong? Quote
Cad64 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 From the Autocad Help files: "To add a background to a drawing, create a named view, assign a background to the view, and then restore the view to see the background." Is this what you did? Also, you can post images here in the forum. You don't have to link to an external host. See HERE. Quote
djole Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 thanks for the attachment tip. From the Autocad Help files: "To add a background to a drawing, create a named view, assign a background to the view, and then restore the view to see the background." Is this what you did? yes i did that. So what is the problem with the thing that i can`t see my background trought the glass? Quote
Cad64 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 What material did you apply to the windows? Did you use one of the pre-made glass materials from the tool palette? I just tried the procedure that I posted previously and it worked perfectly. 1. Type VIEW to open the View Manager 2. Click the "New" button 3. Type in a name for the view, set "Boundary" to "Current Display" and then check the box that says "Override Default Background" and then click OK. 4. Now, in the "Background" dialog, select "Image" from the "Type" list box and then browse to find the image you want to use. Adjust the image as necessary and then click OK. 5. Click OK to exit the "New View" dialog. 6. Now select your View from the "Views" list and click the "Set Current" button. Then click OK to exit. You should now see your background image through the window, regardless of what lights you have set up. Note: I don't normally set images to the background. I always create a flat plane and then apply an image, as a material, to the plane. I feel like I have more control over the image and my scene by doing it this way. Quote
djole Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 The problem with not seeing the background was probably something to do with my poor PC. When i set the background, nothing happens. But when move a litle bit in any direction or rotate, then the background appears. As i said maybe it is due to my poor quality PC. But this background not does not mean to me anything - as i have discovered that i can`t have both Spotlight and Sun. Only one of them could be turned on. Now, the background can be seen at Realisitic view mode, but not at Render beacuse there is no Sun to light it up. So the only solution that can be done is the one you gave me: Note: I don't normally set images to the background. I always create a flat plane and then apply an image, as a material, to the plane. I feel like I have more control over the image and my scene by doing it this way. And that worked!!! Thanks for your help, Cad64. I see now that there are some pretty good CAD proffesionals over here. Also the community is great. I think i am going to adore this place! Quote
