@rlx:

I do not think you are restricted to the .scr extension for script files. At least not when using BricsCAD.

Alternatively you can try converting .scr files to Lips code on the fly. There are some things to look out for, but definitely doable.

Think DGRL is right about IT need to understand that scripts are just a normal part of autocad. Problem is / might be they don't give a cammel's *ss. But I'll report the issue to them and else I follow your suggestion and put for example all commands in the script in a command call or something. Sometimes they listen and fix it for you , but often this only works until the next update. And much is possible with object dbx too , just not plotting. But that can be solved with publish. And in the meantime I focus not only on my work but also what it is I'm working for. Thanx for all your support guys , it makes a rainy day sunny again :-)

Go to the director of the company and tell IT is not making decisions in favor of the company and cost actually money

Show them the proof and your in baby

I know it is childish but IT is here TO HELP THE COMPANY and not to go against is

Hackers are here also for a reason and when misbehave we 'punish' them using our 'laws'

Same goes in a company

IT is misbehaving and they should be corrected

Only one who can correct is the person above IT

Usually director

Everybody handles this on their own way but this my friend is BS and you know that

Don't try to find backdoors coz that will work against you

In the end you are the one who does not comply with new company standards not IT

I believe they recently have had a ddos attack so I guess everybody in IT is a little on the edge right now. And they have this way of periodically blocking everything and then they wait who is going to scream. If you don't scream , well then you probably didn't need it anyway. So for example , a while back they blocked visio for everybody because its an expensive license and most only need the viewer. Its not elegant nor user friendly but it is effective from a business point of view. In my 'wilder' days I probably would have walked out ten times by now , but when you're getting older you learn to think , you want to work less efficient , ok , I'll give you less efficient... their loss , not mine...

Thanks for this 'life' ('live') lesson

Your answer is great and I mean that

Just go with the FLOW and your right about that

It takes away a lot of stress on our side as long as we comply with this method of working ( I think you did )

My biggest lesson I learned some 15 year ago. Same company , different name. Same sort of problems. So I wrote an email and I did sent it directly to the big boss. What happened was I had to report to the director of the agency I was working for at that time and I never forgot what he said , he said , Robert , you are completely right and they are completely wrong , but ... that's no longer the issue here , now it's all about the way you said (wrote) it and not about the contents of your message so now I have to officially give you a warning. That email kept me from this company for the next ten years. And after that time there were still people who didn't want me back. But one of my colleagues convinced them I really was the only one up for job and now almost everybody loves me , how sweet , I'm blushing right now haha

That is also a good point

Look out how you write things but the message here is I think to just forget about it do your job as good as you can and go with the flow

Throw in ideas when the time is right and bring up what can be done better

Then you become the man instead of the whiner

Sounds like they were lucky to keep you, else you'd probably start working for a competitor company and apply your effectivness there.

Anyway any company has its problems, but even bigger issue is to restrict the oppinions and complaints from the workers there (like in your case).

BTW whats your position there: IT maitainance or Electrical engineer?

just a simple autocad designer... they have offered me other functions but I refuse. I don't need more money because it comes with a ton of responsibility and I rather have a simple life with a little bit less money than a lot of stress. Well , (work) day is done for me so time to go home and go irritate the wife :-)

Thats well said!

Stress plays a big role in moderns life, and if you think of the past moments where you've been stressed because of your job, you'll probably realise that it wasn't worth it.
