Hey guys, got a problem here I'm hoping somebody can help with. I am running Civil 3D Land Desktop Companion 2009. I am trying to plot a 24"x36" map that has an aerial view behind it. When it successfully plots it's about a 6.5 MB file. I have tried to plot it a few different ways. #1) Plot straight to a HP Designjet 5500; #2) Plot straight to a HP Designjet 5000; #3) Plot DWG to PDF through AutoCAD; #4) Plot to PDF reDirect v2 (Freeware PDF program); #5) Plot to Adobe PDF (I have Adobe Professional); #6) Plot to Bluebeam PDF Revue (another PDF plotting program). With all of these ways I am running into the same roadblock. AutoCAD starts sending to the plotter, gets part way and gives me an attempting to cancel message. The result is a map that has all the linework for the drawing but no aerial view behind it. I don't believe it is a memory issue because I'm running 4GB of RAM in my PC. I would think that it's an AutoCAD issue because of it doing the same thing through several different routes. I have all the service packs loaded for Civil 3D 2009 and can't find any more packs or hot fixes that address the problem. Any ideas??

You say, "When it successfully plots it's..." That leads me to believe you've actually managed to do what you now say won't work. Is that correct?

When did the problem first occur? Did anything change hardware-wise or software-wise?

Yes, that's correct. I have plotted these same maps before.

This is an off/on problem. I'm beginning to think it depends on the day of the week whether it will print or not. We've had the problem for the last year or so and it happens inconsistently. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Seems like the we started running into it when we upgraded to 2008 and now we still have the problem with 2009. But, it seems to be getting worse/happening more often. I thought I had solved the problem with the PDF reDirect v2 because I have plotted multiple copies of these maps in the last two weeks using it. Today I can't plot any. I have no idea whats going on. I've tried to reboot my PC thinking maybe something loaded incorrectly but that didn't seem to help. And this is not confined to one computer but happens for 4-5 different users on their computers as well. Since the problem started we have upgraded RAM and Hard Drives but the problem was happening before and after. I can't think of any software changes other than the AutoCAD upgrades.

Then I take it the computers and the printers are all networked?

Yes, the computers and the 2 plotters are all networked through an on site server.
