If I have a dimension of 0.25 feet how do I get it to say 3 inches?

Adjust the DIMSTYLE (or in Properties) to have the appropriate setting for the primary units (Architectural or Fractional) set the Dimscale Linear (DIMLFAC) to suit the scale. Are the drawing units feet?

Drawing units are feet.

DIMLFAC is 1.000
