3D section / elevation colors and line types and width

When generating an elevation or a section, all lines have same color and width and so on.

I managed to change some lines based on the material assigned to the 3D elements. Some will not change, mainly in the generated sections.

 

My main question: Is it possible to generate these elevation and section lines, just based on the layer attached to each object?

 

In my opinion this is the simplest way to present 2D elevation and section while each line inherits its 3D element's layer.
