Xref Layer Freeze Macro

I am trying to develop a macros to freeze off xref layers. The problem is once the macros is established the xref drawing name is part of that layer. I was curious if there was a function/symbol that would omit the xref drawing name and only pull the actual layer out? Feel free to offer any other suggestions on completing this!

In the Layer Palette right-click the Filter Xref for all Xrefs or select the individual ones underneath then click Visibility → Frozen

I use an asterisk and a pipe for xref,
