sparkyuk Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 If i dim in model space its shown in mm's but if i dim in paperspace its shown in cm's do i need to alter something to correct this ? btw the drawing is scaled at 1:50 if that matters Quote
Tiger Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Pull up the Properties window and check under the primary Units and check if you have a scale set under DIm linear Scale Quote
sparkyuk Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 sorry im not able to find "Pull up the Properties window and check under the primary Units and check if you have a scale set under DIm linear Scale" which tab is it on ? the only Properties window i can find and that under modify tab hasnt got what you are asking me to check in there ? am i looking in wrong place ? Quote
Tiger Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Yep, it's the Properties window in the Modify pull down menu that I'm referring too. Have it open, and then click on your dimension and you'll be able to see lots and lots of information about the dimension. In the Properties window is a section called Primary Units -take a look there. You can try to change everything there so 0 and see what happens. Quote
sparkyuk Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 ok done that, there is only one line in Primary Units that has a number more then 0 and its called dim scale linear and that will not let me change it to anything, it says "number must be a non zero" ? Quote
sparkyuk Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Its already set to 1.0000 skip ? setting it to 100.0000 corrects the measurement but is this the right way to do it you think ? Quote
Tiger Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 what is your Units set as? (Go Format - Units and check under Insertion scale) The scale 1:50 that you said you had, its set on the viewport right? Under the Properties, while having the dim marked, is the tickbox Associative ticked? Quote
sparkyuk Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 what is your Units set as? (Go Format - Units and check under Insertion scale) mm's now was set in inches but hasnt made any difference The scale 1:50 that you said you had, its set on the viewport right? yes it is but im sorry it was 1:100 not 1:50 Under the Properties, while having the dim marked, is the tickbox Associative ticked? yes Quote
skipsophrenic Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 When you type in units in command bar what are these options set at? EDIT: Don't worry Quote
Tiger Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The scale 1:50 that you said you had, its set on the viewport right? yes it is but im sorry it was 1:100 not 1:50 at least that explains why it works when you set Dim Scale Linear to 100  Quote
Alex_AW Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 sparkyuk, you may dim the drawing in modelspace in the model tab. In this case you should set the DIMSCALE variable to 100. You may do it in the modelspace coming there through a viewport - DIMSCALE = 0 If you want to do it in the layout so all your dimensions will stay in the paperspace - DIMSCALE=1; DIMASSOC=2. Quote
sparkyuk Posted January 29, 2009 Author Posted January 29, 2009 Thanks guys been playing around and the only way i have managed to get it to be in mm's at the right scale is to alter smp-1 to the setting shown, is this the right way to do it as all the others ways i have tried still come back with cm's not mm's ? Quote
Alex_AW Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 This way is less convenient - you'll have to make a dimstyle for each scale you use. Moreover it could cause a mistake - you may accidentally use a wrong dimstyle. Quote
