Autocad 2020.

I have a block with two attributes that display the date and the drawing name.

If I double click the block with the attributes the data is filled out but the data does not display.

ATTDISP = ON

If I run ATTSYNC and select the block the data then appears.

If I edit the block, the attributes are NOT hidden.

Help please.

It sounds like the block originally existed in the drawing without attributes. Then you edited the block and added the attributes, which is why they don't display until you run ATTSYNC.

Can you attach a drawing with the block in it so we can take a look?

I've purged the drawing multiple times.

After the purge there is no reference to the drawing.

I've started a new drawing a reinserted the block with the attributes.

The values are filled in but they do not appear.

So it is not drawing specific....

Without having access to your files, it's hard to say what's causing this.

See HERE for some possible solutions.

All you have to do is open a blank drawing, insert your block, save and post it here. If your block is as simple as you say it is, with just two attributes that display the date and drawing name, I'm sure you wouldn't be violating any company policies.

It is possible that the parent block text has a background mask.  Normally it isn't possible to add a background mask to an attdef but there are some scenarios where I got it to work in civil3d 2018.  It could also be a simple issue of the draw order being messed up?  You could also be using a plot style that prints the text the same color as the background for whatever reason.  Multiple possibilities.

If you are using sheet set manager you can just add the drawing information at the bottom as a "custom property".  It's actually pretty simple.

It works very similar to an XREF only without the hassle of XREF's.

When making changes to attributes, the changes will not be displayed until ATTSYNC is run. It's just the way it works.
