Replace Blocks using Wildcards

Hi Guys & Girls

Is there a program out there that allows a user to rename blocks using a wildcard?

We have hundreds of blocks with names: PORTINGS_LIGHT1, PORTINGS_LIGHT2 and so on and wanted to rename them all to one name: PORTINGS_LIGHT.

Seems a simple request but can’t seem to find the answer.

Thanks in advance

Bob

It may seem simple, but how do you deal with two blocks that have different definitions? When you change its name, do you use the contents of the old block or the new one? If there are differences between the blocks, you might be able to use a dynamic block to incorporate the variations.

There is probably some code out there (there usually is). It would check for duplicate block definitions and consolidate them under one name.

Not as simple as it seems. You could try block replace so that they are all using the same block definition. If they are identical block definitions, this should work.
