Bill Tillman Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Just started work with a new install of AC2020. Funny thing is when I use the TRIM command, it doesn't let me select any cutting lines first. I just starts trimming lines to the nearest one??? Quote
BIGAL Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 (edited) Check Options Selection there is the noun/verb verb/noun mine is on Civ3D 2020 Edited April 20, 2020 by BIGAL Quote
Bill Tillman Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 Thanks BIGAL, I opened the options + selection and the noun/verb setting is checked. I unchecked it but the results are still the same. I also tried adjusting the PICKFIRST variable from1 to 0. No luck there either. And BTW, this is AutoCAD 2021 I'm working with. Brand new installed copy. Can't seem to figure out why Autodesk people change this stuff up from one release to the next. Quote
Dahzee Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I think if you check the what's new in Autocad 2021, you will find they have "enhanced" the Trim command. Supposedly you can change this back to the old way, but not sure what the variables are you need to change. There are some videos on Youtube which describe this new feature, so hopefully they explain how to change it back. HTH Quote
SLW210 Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 New way it works, though it has been available, Autodesk changed the defaults for 2021. Would have been nice to mention the correct version originally. Try TRIMEDGES and/or TRIMEXTENDMODE. Quote
Bill Tillman Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 Thanks all. I've been working training some new employees and the latest AC was what we installed. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 The new trim does extend or trim as one command. Some commands do drop off now and then ddptype was one. Quote
tombu Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 I like the new Quick operation, but you can switch back to Standard operation by setting the new TRIMEXTENDMODE (System Variable) to 0. Quote
