kellenhaskell Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Ok i have what i think might be an easy question. I work for a Cabinet & Door Shop and am currently building my library of door layouts (See attached pic). I have traditionally just created a drawing file called "door library" that contained all of these drawings. Every time i needed a two panel door with two tall panels i'd open the drawing and find it, than copy/paste into my new drawing. This method works fine, but what i'd like to do is build a block library so that i can insert them easily and be able to modify them with simple stretch commands. I know how to add all these drawings as a block but i still have not figured out how to make them "dynamic" i guess? Example, the attached file has a 3 panel door in the top left (03-V1 A), i'd like to be able to click that 36 dimension and type in lets say 42 and have the block change. I know that its possible to acheive this in autocad i just dont know how. Any help would be appreciated Thank you Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The easiest way to get what you're after is not to click on the 36" dimesnion in the block, but the associated parameter in the blocks properties. You can also set up a lookup table so that clicking the grip point displays a list of presets (i.e. 18"x36"; 24"x48"; etc...). You should check out this tutorial over at Ellen Finkelstein's blog to help you start to understand some of the concepts. If you get stuck, post the block here and I'd be happy to take a look and offer advice. Quote
