Jez(UK) Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Hello, If someone I know wants me to send them a drawing for printing only and I do not want them to be able to alter the drawing in any way, is there a way to send that drawing 'locked' but viewable ?? Any ideas ?? Thanks, Jez (AutoCAD LT 2009) Quote
NBC Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Would be best to send them a dwf or a pdf file; rather than the native .dwg format. Whilst dwf / pdf can still be 'manipulated' it is not as easy as manipulating a dwg file. Quote
Jez(UK) Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 Hi, and thanks. Yes I do send PDFs but now and again I get asked for the DWG file and I'd rather send it as read-only. Not sure what a dwf is.....(looking up as I type) Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Short answer, a DWF is like a PDF, but its a vector format instead of raster. Best comparison is that its like sending a collection of print previews in a seperate file. You can also send 3d dwf's which allow someone to rotate or even "walk" through the model. Quote
