Lineweight Vs Plot Style

Recommended Posts

In my plot style I have Blue (5) set as 0.70mm as plotted thickness. In ont drawing I don't want it come plot 0.70mm thick but I want it to match the other lines which are 0.18mm. I have went into layers and changed it from default to 0.18mm set everything to BYLAYER but yet it's still plotting out 0.70mm. Does it always plot according to the CTB File?

Cheers in advance.

Yes

The CTB overrides everything except wide plines.

You'll need to change the color of that layer to one that plots at .18 per the CTB.

Although if you change the CTB lineweight setting for a colour to "Use object lineweight" then it takes the lineweight from the object. ie you can have multiple line thickness for the same colour and on the same layer depending upon the individual object lineweight. It is more difficult working this way as you need to set the lineweight for every single item but it does give you more flexability.

True

You could also use the lineweight assigned to the layer in that case (as long as the objects were all set to "by layer")

For me this is a waste of the .stb plotstyles. Obviously if your amending a drawing then it's the only way. My point is, if your going to set object properties by object, then seriously think about using stb's.

I agree, I wasn't trying to suggest that this would a good way of working but that it is possible to plot a specific colour and use different lineweights with a CTB. To covert a whole drawing to STB could be overkill unless you plan to change over permanently.
