I have searched, but am needing to find information on making and using blocks for plants in a City planting plan. The old base dwg that I was given contains blocks, but I am not too sure that they were created right or appropriately for this purpose.

We would like to ultimately use this new drawing to keep an inventory of what has been planted (adding and removing over the years), and to be able to sort plants by different attributes (evergreen, perennials, etc.).

This would be created in CAD 2021. Thank you for any help in advance.

Just me with regards trees etc and others will comment I am sure.

Draw all the tree object on layer 0 this allows the layer to control the colour.

The insertion point is the centre of the tree.

If want same style but different sizes then do that Tr1 Tr2 Tr3 etc or else draw  it 1 unit dia and use scale x & Y for size.

As dealing with existing trees have a dynamic tree so trunk and spread can be set seperate.

Had a palm tree was was made up of 4 blocks inside it, really no need for what is known as a nested block.

You can make your attribute visible or not allow for a tree number.

There are many online tutorials and most books also show how to go about creating blocks, try starting here on Mycadsite or post a dwg showing the sort of thing you are trying to do
