The AutoCAD Blog Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 For the latest in our Have You Tried series, we’re going to look at associated dimensions in AutoCAD. Having dimensions associated to the geometry they measure can help keep the dimensions updated when the design changes. Dimensions that update are linked or associated with the geometry they measure. That’s called dimension associativity. Dimensions can be associative or non-associative depending on how they are created. They can also become disassociated if the associated geometry is deleted or exploded. In this new Have You Tried, we’ll go over how to: Monitor dimension associativityControl whether new dimensions are associativeWork with disassociated dimensionsAssociate or reassociate dimensionsDisassociate a dimension Learn how to work with associative dimensions with the step-by-step examples in the Have You Tried: Associative Dimensions topic. Keep the Feedback Coming Thanks for all the great feedback submitted so far. Because of the great feedback, we have been able to improve the topics in the AutoCAD Online Help system. The best way to submit feedback is by using the “Was this helpful?” section located at the bottom of every Help topic. Let us know what you like or don’t like about a topic or provide suggestions for other subjects that you’d like to see covered in greater detail. The more specific your comments, the better. steven-g Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 The real question is have you tried fixing the problems caused by badly placed and non-associative dimensions, and wondered why anybody would do it that way? Quote
Dana W Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Can we have dimensions that actually do associate when they are enabled and placed properly? I occasionally find them loosie goosy at random with no seemingly direct reason. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 Y'all realize this is a RSS Feed from a blog, don't y'all? I do not believe they will see the comments. Why not post those questions on the actual blog site? It would be interesting to see the responses. Quote
