contour lines

How do I label contour lines? I'm not working in 3d and I don't have a table and label panel.

You break the line and insert your text.

Thank you ReMArk I was hoping there was an automatic way like in 3D CAD

Part automation like ReMark if contour line has a elevation then can pick a point and say use mtext with background mask. Like CIV3D would draw a line over contours for contour points.

 

So do the contours have a elevation if all zero no way, if yes post a sample dwg.

If I am not mistaken the linetype assigned to the contour layer for this particular P-F project is dashed, therefore the student wouldn't necessarily need to break the line to insert text nor would a background mask be required.  I am basing this on a copy of the project drawing given to me by a former student.
