muck Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I have the task of suggesting electrical layer names for new CAD drawings. Do you have any suggestions for a name list? The layer name list needs to be short but yet complete to include panel drawings, schematics, building layouts etc. Do you know of any electrical naming system that works well? Thank you, Quote
LifeoRiley0 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Muck, We don't do electrical but duct and pipe instead. We use P-San, P-Dom HW, P-Txt, M-Pipe, M-Duct etc. We try to keep it uniform, short and self explanatory. Quote
e.mounir Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Hi Find attached the xls file of electrical layer name including all electrical works elec-.zip Quote
skoko87 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 How does one go about importing this XLS file into AutoCAD? Quote
ReMark Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 You have a couple of options. 1) Paste Special and 2) a DataLink (via the TABLE command). Quote
RobDraw Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 There are a few largely recognized/accepted layering standards out there. They vary from country to country and are not always followed to the letter by the people that use them. If your files are strictly internal, I would take a look at one or two of these and either use one or make up your own variation that suits your needs. If you share your files, you may want to consider using one of the recognized standards as closely as possible. Quote
cadvision Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I'm an Electrical/Mechnical drafting that was trained on a drawing board. In New Zealand we use IEC symbols (mainly). I like to keep the layering simple, so symbols go on EQUIP, text on TEXT, Power lines on POWER, control wiring in CONTROL, mechical operators on MECH.... Lighting and power plans are mostly a xref of the Arct plans and we might add ELEC_Fitting or as Elect-Lighting, Elect_ PWR. The Electrical circuits will be Power. remeber in general the sparky doing the install is working from paper, so the layering is more for you ease in drawing. You could use AutoCAD Electrical if you want. Quote
BIGAL Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 a quick fix to the xl is add this to sq G2 =CONCATENATE("-la n ",A2," ","c ",C2," ",A2," Lt ",D2," ",A2," Lw ",E2," ",A2," D ",B2) save the G column to notepad and save as a script run once in your new DWT and all set up Quote
