KenBaccus Posted April 22, 2022 Posted April 22, 2022 Hello all, I'm busy at work making dynamic blocks out of bolt heads, and I managed to make a dynamic block with the visibility parameter to fit multiple bolt heads together and choose the appropriate bolt head. It works as intended in it's own DWG file but when I take it into other DWGs to test it out, it needs to be exploded first. I was told that in order for this not to happen then I need to bring in the blocks into the block editor and explode them there... except I already did that. I'm feeling quite lost, any suggestions? BIGAL Posted April 23, 2022 Posted April 23, 2022 If you copy a block Ctrl+c then paste into another dwg Ctrl+v should work, the block must exist say at 0,0 in 1st dwg. If your using insert then may have to explode once. Here is another dynamic bolt may be useful. DYNAMIC BOLT.dwg Quote
KenBaccus Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Hello everyone, Work has tasked me to make a bunch of blocks into dynamic blocks and I've stumbled on a problem, one which is answered only vaguely online. I made a bunch of dynamic blocks and they work almost entirely as intended, except for when I bring them into a new drawing I have to explode them to get them to work correctly. I would like to bring in my dynamic blocks without taking the extra step of exploding them, any ideas how to solve this? Quote

SLW210 Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 Did you ask this question on Reddit recently? Quote
KenBaccus Posted April 29, 2022 Author Posted April 29, 2022 I want to insert the block in any way I want without having to explode it. I figured out how to solve that problem already, but maybe you guys can help me with a new problem: the message "[file name].dwg contains authoring elements. Open in Block Editor?" I open the block editor and save the changes, but then the whole dwg closes and when I reopen the dwg it gives me the same message. When I insert the drawing, either through the clipboard or just ctrl+C/ctrl+V, and they work as intended, but I would like to make the authoring elements message go away when I open the block directly. And yes, I posted this in the Autocad subreddit as well, good eye. I'm trying my best to get answers from multiple sources. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 (edited) If its blocks that you use a lot a couple of choices. The simplest though is insert all the different blocks explode and erase. Then save as a dwt this is your template drawing set up with everything you want in that dwt, layers, textstyles, linetypes, blocks etc, you can set that dwt to be the one that is opened when you start your CAD. The other is to use a menu or ribbon it has the insert and explode coded in it. Edited April 29, 2022 by BIGAL Quote
KenBaccus Posted May 2, 2022 Author Posted May 2, 2022 Whenever I open a dwg of a dynamic block I 've made I get an "authorizing elements" message, and I'm prompted to edit the block. When I click yes, and close and save changes (or even if I don't save changes) it closes the dwg on me and I can't access my block. Quote
