Guest lelebrasa Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Please delete my previous Portuguese post …tkx Hey hey LOL, I’m sorry guys. The reason for this mess was, because I posted in 2 different forum, as you can notice one was in Portuguese. My English is not that good, but let me try. Question first, after that feel free to keep reading. I need to place a chair in a round shape, imagine a 8 slides pizza with one slice out, so we have a 7/8 off a circle. A need to place a chair around the perimeter off this circle closing to the center. Every chair will be 1” or 2” apart (by the way, does anybody has a block of a chair? Meaning, I’m looking for a chair like a movie theater chair, with one shared arm rest.) I need to know how to count the block, meaning, I used array but as my knowledge in cad is not that good, I used array in angle (I tried to put the number of block, but was a “pain in the…” to put in and out until get the right dimension a part. There is any easy way? p.s. thanks so much for those who try to translate my first post and sorry for the confusion Tkx Jorge malden-ma Now the little extra: I don’t have a large experience in cad and now, I’m getting to use some tools that isn’t part of my daily basics tasks. By the way, if anybody want to help us in the future I appreciate. I’m living in USA and I have a friend, who wants to build a place in Brazil to help children in education and religion. (this project doesn’t have any “label” is not a specific church, the main reason is to help) The temple will be a 5 point star when you look from the top, so, the circle inside (between the star’s points) will be seats (also the points will be place for seats too). The chair will start from the perimeter of the wall closing to the end. The “missed” pizza slide will be the stage, so no seats in there. Around this stair will be 5 building in a semi-circle shape, that will be use for all kind off class (education, dance, computer, etc) I have a beginning drawing if someone wants to see. Thanks Quote

Geoffers Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 lelebrasa apologies for my silly message -:oops: Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 To place the objects around 7/8ths of a circle, using polar array, your angle to fill should be 315 degrees [360*(7/8)=315]. As far as how many will fit there, that depends on size of the object and radius of the curve. Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Just thought of another good option, the MEASURE command. Create your chair as a block, with the center of the front edge of the seat as the inertion point (Note the width at the front edge). Create an arc for each of your rows of seats. Enter MEASURE at the command line and select one of the arcs. Type B, [Enter] to specify a block and enter the name of your block and then enter Y to align the block with the segment. For the length of the segment use your chair width plus your desired gap. This should work relatively well, though you may need to rotate some rows to better align the seats. Quote
Guest lelebrasa Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 hey Geoffers: LOL - don't be, it's fine. was my mistake any way...was funny when I saw your post LOL Maxwell thanks I will try tonight... also, by tomorrow I will post (if anybody want to see) what I got so far tkx Quote
Guest lelebrasa Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 For instance…there is anybody in here who has or know where to get a chair’s block? What kind? That is a good question, maybe we have more experienced people in here them myself, so, if is possible, suggestion will be accept. what will be the better chair to be placed in a circle? Is individual better or branches will be a alternate? Just don’t forget, the place will be huge, thinking to seat about 5000 people. We were thing in two chairs and one arm rest (like most American movie theater) Tkx again Quote
MaxwellEdison Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Your chairs and mounting are going to be a special case, each row will have a different radius and will need to be handled a separate way. I'd recommend figuring out where you plan on getting these seats from and ask the manufacturer for their input, since it's no good designing something you can't build. They'll likely be able to design a layout with the information you provide them. I'd recommend having the outside and inside radii of the seating area, desired number of seats, and number of aisles agreed on before they are contacted, as this is some of the first information they'll be asking for. For help finding a manufacturer, check with businesses in the area that may have similar seating arrangements (theaters, conference centers, and especially a planetarium if one is near you). Quote
Guest lelebrasa Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 You're right Maxwell...so one more item on my "to-do list" LOl tkx Quote
fuccaro Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Draw a very simple chair, or just a rectangle or so, but at real dimensions -and convert it to block. Insert as many chairs as you wish and arrange them in the drawing. Later you can edit the block to show a real chair -AutoCAD will update all the instances in the drawing. Quote
