Chad541121 Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I have watched numerous videos and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have an awning that I can stretch but I also want to be able to select the color. I have seen examples of cascading attributes, which I like. So I would select the length and then arrow over and pick the color. I can't seem to achieve this. I currently can't even get the color attribute to display on the screen after selected. Example Here Quote
Chad541121 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 I have attached a drawing. I am trying to teach myself dynamic blocks. The 2 awnings on the right are just a few of the many blocks I currently have made. I want to eliminate them all and have just 1 dynamic block. The block on the right is my work in progress. I have figure out how to make the awning stretch with certain increments and restraints. Problem is I want the length displayed based on the stretched lookup box. I also would like cascading lookup box so that after the length it has an arrow to the right to select the color also. You can tell by the blocks on the right how I would like the result to look. Chad541121 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Thank you. I just tried searching and couldn't find my original post. Thought maybe cause I hadn't completed registration yet. Quote
Chad541121 Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Update. I am getting somewhere. Alot of trial and error. I am wondering if a table is the correct approach? I have 15 different awning lengths and 20 different colors. Is there a way to do this without creating a table of each size with every color? Meaning the table would have to be 15 x 20 = 300 records long!! yikes. I have attached an example that I came up with. Also, if I use the grip then the size doesn't update. Even with a regen. I can only change the size with the lookup table. Can I have both? AwningBlockDemo.dwg Quote
BIGAL Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 You can in a dim have the <> which means use the distance between the 2 points defining the dim. "<> Black and Grey" so hopefully not tested, the dim will change. OK you need to make a dim style you can turn off all the line work and arrows etc so it will look like text. Add the dim to your block and see how it goes then keep removing line work in that dim style. Quote
Chad541121 Posted May 22, 2023 Author Posted May 22, 2023 Thank you so much. I had to play around with it a bit, but the dim style made this possible! Quote
