Hi anybody Help?

I got 3 parts:

633 126 Support body stripped (edited to get size down, was 900kb.)

633 019 Lever

620 092 Bolt (it is a shaft)

Ok I can assemble the 3 parts, pin through support and lever on pin.

I have managed to constrain the 3 parts so that the lever rotates on the pin.

But... the lever will rotate 360 degrees.

How do I make it so that it does not interfere with support body.

I have tried to drive constraints - collision detection but it moves lever side to side not around pin. Am I picking the wrong constraint?

Once I can get this working I can then put into use on other parts.

Any help much appreciated.

By the way using inventor 7.

Thanks

David

I don't recall if Contact Sets were in v7, but you might search help.

Also, I noticed that your sketch1 is placed at the origin but not constrained. This is 1st day beginner mistake. I suggest you read the Inventor Professor documents included in the tutorials in my signature to master sketch constraining before moving on to assembly constraining.

Sketch1 in your Support Body is far too complex and could be significantly simplified. (Is this an imported AutoCAD geometry?) Sketch16 is sick with much pink geometry. By simplifying Sketch1 the overall part would be far more robust.

The support body ipt was too big to upload or even zip. ipt file was 865kb and zipped came down to 790kb.

So i just went into part file deleted lots of holes extrusions etc to get size down. So there might be some bits missing etc.

It was drawn from scratch in inventor.

I just gave up.

I trashed 633 126 Support body.

I looked at drawing again.

ran sketch doctor

suggested update to drawing

took it like a fool

missing constraints and overlapping curves

now inventor crashed

open drawing up and half missing with errors

so de-sided in the light of i aint got a clue as to what i am doing, making basic errors as jd says, I have deleted the part.

I am not going to spend 5 days redrawing it. it was too complicated.

So I am going to ditch it all

That will teach me for trying to learn something new without spending thousands of pounds on a program and paying someone to teach me it.

Ok JD you won.

Another stupid idiot bites the Inventor dust.

You did not need to delete anything. The usual practice is to drag the red End of Part marker in the browser above all features and then save and zip.

Large file size is not so much caused by the geometry but by faceting needed to shade the image. By dragging the EOP above the features all faceting is removed. On the receiving end the user simply drags the EOP back down to rebuild the geometry.

Not sure what that means?

What do I win?

I try to learn to use Inventor.

But due to the fact I cannot afford the lastest program version or the training to go with it, all the sample training notes that are out there are for latest versions not menials like me that got an old version.

So I got so fed up with it and it looks like I will never be able to get used to it.

Bring on AutoCad.

At least it works.

It easier to work with.

And you can start a drawing at 0,0. None of this origin not constrained stuff. It dont work in version 7.

So you can rest assured that I will not ask any more stupid questions that is so simple for experts to answer.
